Dorcha Embraces The Many Benefits Of Canned Hydration

Welcome to a journey of sustainability, where every sip becomes an opportunity to make a positive impact. In the corporate world, small choices wield substantial influence, and one such choice deserving of a closer look is the selection of water containers. Plastic water bottles, once considered convenient, now reveal a darker side—environmental degradation. Every year, our planet grapples with an overwhelming 600 billion plastic bottles, leaving an indelible mark of 25 million tons of non-recycled plastic waste. Join us as we explore the ecological pitfalls of plastic and discover the educational wonders of shifting to aluminium cans for corporate hydration.

Carbon Consciousness

If the plastic industry was a country, it would be the world’s fifth largest greenhouse gas emitter. As per OECD, In 2019, plastics generated 3.4% of global emissions – with 90% of these emissions coming from their production and conversion from fossil fuels. By 2060, emissions from the plastics lifecycle are set to more than double, reaching 4.3 billion tonnes of GHG emissions. Additionally, the chemicals used in plastic production, including ethylene, propylene, and benzene, emit noxious fumes that not only contribute to air pollution but also bear toxic consequences for human health, leading to respiratory issues and other ailments

Switching to Aluminium cans can help to reduce the environmental impact in both making and reusing them. Specifically, cans create 50% less carbon emissions than plastic bottles and more than 3 times less than glass bottles of the same size. Recycling aluminium saves up to 95% of the energy required for primary production, illustrating the circular economy benefits of aluminium and the process of recycling it does not involve the use of any harmful chemicals mentioned prior. Impact on Wildlife and Planet: A Tragic Toll

Around 85% of plastic water bottles, which can take up to 1,000 years to degrade, end up as waste in the ocean, adding to a vast swirl of plastic waste that poses a serious threat to marine life. A study published in 2019 by team of international scientist found that the world’s oceans are polluted by a “plastic smog” made up of approximately 171 trillion plastic particles that, if gathered, would weigh around 2.3 million tons.

In the environment, plastic bottles break down into miniscule particles, called microplastics, which make their way into our food water, posing a potential risk to human health. From entanglement to ingestion, plastic peril threatens 1,557 species worldwide, leading to heartbreaking tales of turtles choked with plastic and seabirds with stomachs filled with synthetic debris. According to a report by world wildlife fund over 100,000 animals die every year due to plastic waste.

On the other hand, Aluminium the most recycled and recyclable packaging on the earth, promises a reduction in landfill waste and a more sustainable approach to corporate hydration. Over 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today, showcasing the recyclability prowess of this remarkable material. Unlike plastic, aluminium bottles do not have the microplastic problem, or require harmful chemicals in the recycling process making it a clean and safe option to satisfy corporate thirst.

On average 7 truck load of plastic has been dumped in the oceans in time taken to read the article. Act Now!!

Learn, support, and hydrate responsibly. By switching to aluminium cans in corporate hydration practices, businesses not only satisfy their thirst but also help create a more sustainable, environmentally aware future. It's time to improve corporate wellness while supporting the planet—one aluminium can at a time.
