Techies Go Green caught up with MindaClient to find out more about their sustainability journey:
The spark of change
Our transformation began when we attended a webinar hosted by Techies Go Green with Dr. Tara Shine. The event was run so professionally, and the content was so insightful, that we felt inspired to kickstart our green journey.
Collaboration was key to us getting started. We reached out to our client, Fifty Shades Greener, a well-established sustainability company providing education, certification, and consultancy services to businesses, governmental bodies, and educational providers. We chose this Ireland-based company as they’ve been using our software for years, and we admire the work of their green leader Raquel Noboa.
With their support and expertise, we were able to get a better grasp on our Scope 1 and 2 emissions. The Fifty Shades Greener team trained us on social and environmental sustainability, and got us set up on their portal to track and record our electricity and gas output, as well as costs from our home offices, to establish our baseline of carbon emissions. This came out as 5.57 tonnes of CO2 in 2022.
Making measurable strides
We’re proud of the achievements we’ve made towards a more sustainable workplace. By partnering with Carbonfund.org, we've offset our carbon, contributing to vital reforestation efforts. Internally, we've embraced renewable energy, a paperless office ethos, and energy conservation measures to minimise our environmental footprint further.
A focus on social sustainability
Beyond environmental action, MindaClient is deeply invested in social sustainability. We’ve launched several initiatives focusing on education, community engagement, and health. We offer educational opportunities to all our staff, and we’ve set up a student ambassador program for university students in Ireland to collaborate with us, writing sustainability blogs for our website and social channels.
We’re working with local charities to bolster community development, and we’ve also created a workplace wellbeing measurement tool to improve wellbeing in the workplace. Taking this a step further, we’ve partnered with a Kilkenny-based mental health charity to develop a comprehensive workplace wellbeing program. This program, powered by MindaClient's software and using our measurement tool, offers essential mental health support and counselling services to employees.
This approach integrates technology with mental health care, tailored to meet the needs of today's workforce. Better still, it provides a critical revenue stream for the mental health charity.
What’s next?
Our journey is far from over. We have plans to look closer at water conservation and ocean projects as our commitment to workplace sustainability grows. While we know we are only at the start of our journey, we also know that we are making a difference – and it all started with Techies Go Green.
