Take Prime Computer’s World Environmental Day Challenge

World Environment Day is on the 5th of June, 2022, and the over at Prime Computer has organised a challenge to celebrate.

World Environment Day on 5 June is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually since 1973, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet.

This year, Sweden Regeringskansliet will host World Environment Day in partnership with UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)). The theme, "Only One Earth," will highlight the possibilities for shifting to more sustainable, greener lifestyles.

Prime Computer, an active member of the Techies Go Green Community, want to show audiences how they can do something good for the environment by making small changes in their daily lives, and what impact those have.

This is how the challenge works:

You and your team commit to one (or more) of the following goals, for 1 - 7 days, from 5-11 June. At the end, we'll then calculate for you, how much CO2 each team member saved by committing to their goal, and how much as a whole your team saved. We'll also provide you with a nice graphic, which states how much you saved, so you can share this with your network.

  • The first challenge: ride by bike to work for a week.  Riding a bike is not only good for our planet but also for your psyche and physical health.

  • The second challenge: a vegetarian or vegan diet. Everyone always thinks it's really hard to give up meat... prove them wrong and let your cooking skills shine.

  • The third challenge: stop buying plastic bottles. We all know that plastic is one of the biggest problems for our planet and is very difficult to degrade. Do something good for the planet and don't buy plastic bottles as part of our challenge.

  • The fourth challenge: stop wasting food. Try to cook only as much as you can eat. And if you want to get takeout, only use apps like Too Good To Go to save food.

At the end of the challenge, you’ll be sent another form, in order to collect which goals have been achieved, so Prime Computer can then calculate how much CO2 your team saved with that and provide you with a graphic that you can use to share your teams’ accomplishment.
