Here are some frequently asked questions about our charter.
-
The charter is available exclusively for all Techies Go Green member businesses. The charter provides a common roadmap for responsible and sustainable decision-making and can be adopted as your organisation’s charter declaration. It is an opportunity to become part of our support ecosystem with other Techies Go Green members, which can help speed up your company’s decarbonisation process.
-
The charter commitments should be reviewed by a person in a management position that can make the decision to sign up on behalf of the business. The charter is not a legally binding document. It is a statement of commitment by your business to take actions to verifiably and sustainably cut your greenhouse gas emissions. But we do ask our members to make this charter commitment public as part of its implementation criteria.
-
No. Techies Go Green does not set deadlines for our signatory members. As we all share a common goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions, we expect each member business to translate the charter commitments into time-based targets and action plans. But we encourage all signatories to be ambitious both in their timeframes and the targets they set.
-
As targets may take time to establish, you don’t need to finalize them before signing up and adopting the charter. A key commitment in the charter requires is that targets should be verifiable, time based and auditable using standards based criteria. They can be newly developed targets, existing targets, or a mixture of both.
-
No. Techies Go Green does not audit our members’ charter implementation. It will be up to each member business to set the criteria and audit the implementation of their emissions reduction commitments. Any audit should be both transparent and verifiable. We recommend that you use trained specialists to independently audit and report on your progress, for your own use, at key stages.
